Message from the President of the Board of Directors Drª Lídia Sequeira

On October 31, 1887, his majesty El-rei D. Luís I, laid the first stones in the construction works of the port of Lisbon, in Alcântara. This was followed by the signing of the inauguration notice for the works in the port of Lisbon, which stated:

In the year of the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, the forty-ninth birthday of His Majesty El-Rei the Lord Dom Luís the First, on a Monday, October thirty-first, at four o'clock in the afternoon, on Rua Vinte e Quatro de Julho, near Alcântara, in the presence of His Majesty and Highnesses, and other persons designated below, the construction work for the port of Lisbon was inaugurated, with His Majesty El-Rei launching the stones of the rockfill.
